Outreach Services

What is Outreach?

Outreach as it sounds is our means of reaching outside the physical walls of the Counseling Center and engaging in the lives of those connected to our MSU community – students, parents/guardians, faculty, staff, administrators and surrounding communities.

The outreach component of our services include a variety of programming and consultation activities in which Counseling Center staff are involved in awareness, education, prevention, and collaboration by providing informational services, workshops, campus-wide programming, consultation and student peer support among other ways of engaging our community.

Outreach – Programming Requests

We offer a wide range of programming through Outreach Services.  Members of our staff can be available to facilitate a workshop or table an informational event for your student group, academic department, residential hall, campus or community program.

Common Workshop Topics:

  • Counseling Center Information – overview of services
  • Stress Management
  • Time Management
  • Sleep 101
  • QPR – Suicide Awareness & Prevention

Wellness Workshops are also available on a drop-in basis at various locations throughout the academic year.  Call in (517-355-8270) to find out when and where the next Wellness Workshop is offered.

You can expect to be contacted by a member of our outreach team to further review your request. Throughout the academic year, we do receive a large number of requests; to best accommodate your requests, we recommend submitting programming requests at least 3 weeks prior to your event date. Even if it is not possible for us to meet your request, we can likely be helpful in exploring alternative options.

Get Involved in Outreach!

Outreach extends beyond the physical location of the Counseling Center, involves our MSU Community as a whole and is far reaching and can transform someone’s life with your support.  Learn how to get involved in Outreach through programming, peer support, student volunteer and leadership opportunities. Please email counseling@msu.edu for more information on how to get connected.
