Evaluation & Communication with Academic Programs

Each per-doctoral intern receives formal evaluation and feedback at a minimum of four points during the year. These evaluations cover clinical work, personal/professional relationship skills, outreach/consultation, supervision, case presentations, research/scholarly presentations, and ethical principles. We also seek evaluation of the internship program by pre-doctoral interns, and encourage participation in the development of new training activities.

The interaction process between the internship site and the training program begins when the applicant formally accepts our offer. This begins the process of interaction between the internship site and the academic department. When the pre-doctoral intern has formally accepted our offer, the academic program is notified. The training site informs the academic department of the pre-doctoral intern's progress in January. In September, a final evaluation of the pre-doctoral intern's performance will be sent, including a formal statement regarding completion of the internship program. If there is a significant problem with a pre-doctoral intern's performance, the academic program will be advised of the problem, any corrective actions taken, and the final outcome.
